This part of the upper north shore is older underground than it looks from the street. Large blocks, deep gardens and plenty of Federation-era homes still dominate, and a good share of that stock has never had its original drainage touched.

That matters more than it does on the surface. Homes from before the plastic-pipe era were plumbed in earthenware, and after this long in the ground the joints have opened just enough for roots to find their way in.

Deep, established gardens make that worse, not better. Mature trees push roots exactly where a drain has the least resistance to offer.

We see the pattern often enough to know it before we lift a lid. A drain that ran fine for years, then blocks twice in one season, is usually root intrusion rather than bad luck.

From there we camera the line and work out whether it needs a clear-and-monitor or a permanent trenchless reline. Either way, it gets priced before anything starts.
